Dell Computers Essay Example for Free
Dell Computers Essay Dell Computer spearheaded another method of making and selling PCs. Its clients ââ¬Å"custom-designâ⬠their PC over the Internet or telephone. Dell reengineered its ââ¬Å"supply chainâ⬠as it composed its endeavors with its providers and smoothed out its request taking and creation process. It can deliver a PC inside two days of taking a request. PCs lose 1 percent of their worth consistently they sit on a rack. Hence, having practically no stock is an extraordinary favorable position to Dell. Compaq attempted to receive Dells approach, however with constrained achievement. Dellââ¬â¢s CEO Michael Dell comprehended that sort of execution. His immediate deals and work to-arrange approach was not only a promoting strategy to sidestep retailers; it was the center of his business procedure. Execution is the explanation Dell passed Compaq in showcase esteem years prior, regardless of Compaqs incomprehensibly more noteworthy size and extension, and its the explanation Dell passed Compaq in 2001 as the universes greatest producer of PCs. As of November 2001, Dell was shooting to twofold its piece of the pie, from roughly 20 to 40 percent. Dell turns its stock more than eighty times each year, contrasted with around ten with multiple times for its opponents, and its working capital is negative. Therefore, it creates a huge measure of money. In the final quarter of financial 2002, with incomes of $8. 1 billion and a working edge of 7. 4 percent, Dell had income of $1 billion from tasks. Its arrival on contributed capital for monetary 2001 was 355 percentââ¬an mind blowing rate for an organization with its business volume. Its high speed likewise permits it to give clients the most recent innovative enhancements in front of different creators, and to exploit falling segment costsââ¬either to improve edges or to cut costs. These are the reasons Dells methodology turned out to be savage for its rivals once PC development eased back. Dell benefited from their wretchedness and cut costs in an offer for piece of the overall industry, expanding the separation among it and the remainder of the business. Due to its high speed, Dell could show exceptional yield on capital and positive income, even with edges discouraged. Its opposition couldnt. The framework works simply because Dell executes fastidiously at each stage. The electronic linkages among providers and assembling make a consistent broadened venture. An assembling official we realize who worked at Dell for a period calls its framework ââ¬Å"the best assembling activity Ive ever observed. In 1998, Dell Computers propelled its first worldwide brand publicizing effort, starting in the United States and Canada, to additionally feature the benefits of its immediate plan of action. The brand promoting effort conveys the subject Be Direct. The battle features Dells one of a kind plan of action, which assists with taking out hindrances among clients and the maker, furnishing Dell with the way to improve the general client experience. Dells promoting has concentrated essentially on its items and has been focused on to a great extent at PC devotee and industry exchange distributions, link and neighborhood TV and a couple of national papers. The Be Direct crusade will be notwithstanding the companys continuous item arranged publicizing. The new brand crusade underscores the qualities and focal points of Dells direct-to-client business reasoning. The immediate model, spearheaded by Dell in the PC business, empowers Dell clients to have PC frameworks worked to their particulars; a solitary purpose of responsibility; grant winning assistance and backing; and quick access to the most recent pertinent innovation. By and by, the developing number of requests comes in over the Internet. The request taking framework interfaces with Dells own gracefully chain control framework, which guarantees that stock is the place it should be for the PC to be produced rapidly. Likewise, Dell stores next to no stock. Rather, Dells providers have assembled stockrooms near Dells offices, and Dell orders parts on a without a moment to spare premise. By executing these techniques, Dell has had the option to give clients precisely what they need rapidly. Moreover, stock expenses are low, and Dell limits the threat of parts oldness in the quickly changing PC industry. Thusly, Dell has become a prevailing player in the work area PC showcase and is well en route to doing as such in the PC and server markets. References Cravens, D. W. Piercy, N. (2003). Indie Press Round-Up June 2019 New Releases and More
Indie Press Round-Up June 2019 New Releases and More This months round-up of small and independent press books is here! I have done a lot of great reading over the last month, including novels, memoirs, and essay collections. I have books from Korea, Denmark, Mexico, Japan, Canada, and the U.S. on my list, including four books in translation, two books by Native writers, and one satirical novel about MFA programs. I hope this helps you find some new books you love! Loudermilk: Or the Real Poet; Or, the origin of the World by Lucy Ives (Soft Skull, May 7) Loudermilk is a campus novel a genre I love about a prestigious MFA program in Iowa (clearly based on the Iowa Writers Workshop although its not named exactly). Troy Loudermilk has been accepted into the poetry program and is ready to begin. The problem is that he has never written a poem in his life. As it turns out, Loudermilks close friend Harry wrote the poems in his application and will accompany him to Iowa to write poems for him there. The novel is sharply satirical and laugh-out-loud funny. Loudermilk is a ridiculous character, in the best way: the famous Iowa workshop is not at all prepared for him. This is a fast-paced, entertaining read, but also one that has a lot to say about poetry, the university, and the endeavor of teaching creative writing. The Ten Loves of Nishino by Hiromi Kawakami, Translated by Allison Markin Powell (Europa Editions, June 4) This is sort of a novel, sort of a collection of closely-linked stories, held together by the mysterious figure of Nishino who appears in each chapter. It tells the stories of ten women who have fallen in love with Nishino, or at least were involved romantically or sexually with him at some point in their lives. We get brief but telling glimpses into their lives and into the life of Nishino, glimpses that slowly build into a complex portrait of one man and the women he knew. Its the kind of book that reads easily and quickly but then surprises you with its depth of insight and emotion. Its the perfect book for anyone who wants to ponder relationships, love, sex, and the way stories shape our lives. Among the Lost by Emiliano Monge, Translated by Frank Wynne (Scribe US, June 4) This is one of the darkest books I have ever read, and one of the most powerful. It takes place in an unnamed country that we know is Mexico and tells the story of two human traffickers. They are terrible people who do terrible things, but we also see how they have been victimized by other terrible people, and while its impossible to sympathize with them, its possible to understand why they are the way they are. The story covers one day as the protagonists try to move their victims across a harsh but gorgeously-evoked landscape. The writing in this novel is exquisite. Monge explicitly invokes Dante and includes quotations and paraphrases from the Divine Comedy. He also includes the words of real-life Central American migrants. This novel is an emotionally-wrenching experience and also essential reading for those who want to think deeply about migration and human rights. Mamaskatch: A Cree Coming of Age by Darrel J. McLeod (Milkweed Editions, June 11) Mamaskatch is a memoir about Darrel McLeods boyhood and young adulthood in Alberta, Canada. He is a member of the Cree tribe and feels a strong sense of connection to his culture and family. But his childhood is a difficult one, as he loses his father at a young age and his mother struggles with poverty and alcoholism. His siblings are in and out of foster care, and he often finds himself responsible for them even though he is still a child himself. He suffers sexual abuse at the hands of his brother-in-law. We learn about mistreatment his mother and aunts experienced from members of the Catholic church. Its a difficult story, but McLeod tells it movingly and beautifully. Its a dark book, but a hopeful one too, as McLeod finds ways of understanding and coming to terms with his complicated life. The Skin is the Elastic Covering that Encases the Entire Body by Bjørn Rasmussen, Translated by Martin Aitken (Two Lines Press, June 11) This book is complicated, disturbing, transgressive, extremely sexually explicit, and clearly not for everyone, but it is also fresh, daring, and gorgeous. The narrator is Bjørn, a teenager in Denmark caught up in a sexual relationship with his older riding instructor. He writes about obsession and sex and also his fraught relationship with his mother, his brothers, and the animals on their farm. Mostly its an exploration of Bjørns internal world what he thinks and feels and what its like to be in his skin. Its told in a fragmented, stream-of-consciousness style, so we really get into the narrators mind and live there. Its a short book at barely over 100 pages, but it packs so much life into every part. Its darkly beautiful and fearless. Shapes of Native Nonfiction: Collected Essays by Contemporary Writers, Edited by Elissa Washuta and Theresa Warburton (University of Washington Press, June 23) I love essay collections, and those that in some way address the essay form itself are my favorite. This collection of essays by contemporary Native writers begins with a discussion of traditions of Native writing and then sets forth its own purpose: to collect pieces that stretch the boundaries of what an essay can do and explore Native experiences in innovative and and formally-daring ways. There is tremendous variety on offer here, both in terms of subject and tone. The collection is organized using basket weaving as its central concept: the sections each connect a basket weaving technique coiling, plaiting, and twining to a method of structuring an essay. Contributors include Stephen Graham Jones, Deborah Miranda, Terese Marie Mailhot, and more. Blood Sisters by Kim Yideum, Translated by Jiyoon Lee (Deep Vellum, June 25) Blood Sisters is a novel about Jeong Yeoul, a young woman trying to get by as she mostly fails at college, is estranged from her parents, and rootlessly moves from place to place. The novel takes place in 1980s Korea, where there is a constant undercurrent of political unrest. Friends encourage Yeoul to find a political purpose for her life, but she resists. She seeks escape in the world of art, but even there she finds disappointment. She and her friends are faced with sexual violence, as they try to make their way through a conservative, patriarchal environment. Its a powerful novel, one that stays close to Yeouls thoughts and feelings and takes the reader to some dark places. She is a memorable narrator: honest and intense in her search for self-understanding and a way to exist in the world. Finally, here are some June 2019 new releases that are going on my TBR: Mostly Dead Things by Kristen Arnett (Tin House Books, June 4): a woman takes over the family taxidermy business while dealing with grief and loss after her fathers death. Time is the Thing a Body Moves Through by T Fleischmann (Coffee House Press, June 4): an autobiographical narrative about art, loss, sexuality, and the body. This Wicked Tongue by Elise Levine (Biblioasis, June 25): a short story collection in the vein of Joy Williams and Karen Russell that explores the depths of its characters psyches. 100 Times: A Memoir of Sexism by Chavisa Woods (Seven Stories Press, June 25): an autobiographical account of 100 encounters with sexual discrimination and violence. If youre looking for more great small and independent press books, check out my round-ups from April and May.

Dominant Ideology Thesis
The dominant ideology of a society is the collection of values, attitudes, and beliefs that shape the way it views reality. However, sociologists argue that the dominant ideology is only one of a multitude of ideologies at play and that its preeminence is the only aspect that distinguishes it from other competing viewpoints. In Marxism Sociologists differ on how the dominant ideology manifests itself. Theorists influenced by the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels maintain that the dominant ideology always represents the interests of the ruling class over the workers. For example, the ideology of ancient Egypt that represented the pharaoh as a living god and therefore infallible clearly expressed the interests of the pharaoh, his dynasty, and his entourage. The dominant ideology of bourgeois capitalism functions the same way. There are two ways by which the dominant ideology is perpetuated, according to Marx. Intentional propagation is the work of cultural elites within the ruling class: its writers and intellectuals, who then use mass media to disseminate their ideas.Spontaneous propagations happen when the mass media environment is so total in its efficacy that its basic tenets are unquestioned. Self-censorship among knowledge workers, artists, and others ensures that the dominant ideology is unchallenged and the status quo remains Of course, Marx and Engels predicted that revolutionary consciousness would sweep away such ideologies that kept power from the masses. For example, unionizing and collective actions would upset the world views propagated by the dominant ideology, as these are representations of a working-class ideology.

Symbolism Of A Doll House By Henrik Ibsen - 974 Words
Symbolism In literature, symbolism is an essential tool that many writers use to enhance their stories. Symbols are often used to provide a deeper meaning to their writing. In Henrik Ibsenââ¬â¢s play ââ¬Å"A Doll House,â⬠Nora Helmer is a housewife that borrows a large sum of money in order to save her husbandââ¬â¢s life. She never tells him of the loan, and as a result she must secretly pay it back. When Torvald is appointed as bank director, Nora sees this as an opportunity to pay back the loan faster. The Return Shadow Souls Chapter 39 Free Essays
Elena waded into the crowd feeling like a soldier. She didnââ¬â¢t know why. Maybe because she had thought of a quest and had managed to complete it and stay alive and bring back loot. We will write a custom essay sample on The Return: Shadow Souls Chapter 39 or any similar topic only for you Order Now Maybe because she bore honorable wounds. Maybe because above her there was an enemy who was still out for her blood. Come to think of it, she thought, Iââ¬â¢d better get all these noncombatants out of here. We can keep them in a safe house ââ¬â well, a few dozen safe houses and ââ¬â What was she thinking? Safe house was a phrase from a book. She wasnââ¬â¢t responsible for these people ââ¬â idiots, mostly, who had stood, slavering, and watched her being whipped. But ââ¬â despite that, maybe she should get them out of here. ââ¬Å"Bloddeuwedd!â⬠she cried dramatically and pointed to a wheeling silhouette above. ââ¬Å"Bloddeuwedd is free! She gave me these!â⬠ââ¬â pointing to the three lacerations on her back. ââ¬Å"Sheââ¬â¢ll go after you, too!â⬠At first most of the angry exclamation seemed to be about the fact that Elena now had a marked back. Elena was in no mood to argue. There was only one person here she wanted to talk to now. Keeping Bonnie and Meredith close behind her, she called. Damon! Damon itââ¬â¢s me! Where are you? There was so much telepathic traffic that she doubted he would hear her. But finally, she caught a faint, Elena?â⬠¦Yesâ⬠¦ Elena, hold on to me. Think of holding me physically, and Iââ¬â¢ll take us to a different frequency. Hold on to a voice? But Elena imagined holding on to Damon tightly, tightly, while she physically held Bonnieââ¬â¢s and Meredithââ¬â¢s hands. Now can you hear me? This time the voice was much clearer, much louder. Yes. But I canââ¬â¢t see you. But I see you. Iââ¬â¢m coming to ââ¬â WATCH OUT! Too late, Elenaââ¬â¢s senses warned her of a huge shadow plummeting from above. She couldnââ¬â¢t move quickly enough to get out of the way of a snapping, alligator-sized beak. But Damon could. Leaping from somewhere, he gathered her and Bonnie and Meredith all in one great armful and leaped again, hitting grass and rolling. Oh, God! Damon! ââ¬Å"Is anybody hurt?â⬠he asked aloud. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m fine,â⬠Meredith said quietly, calmly. ââ¬Å"But I suspect I owe you my life. Thank you.â⬠ââ¬Å"Bonnie?â⬠Elena asked. Iââ¬â¢m okay. I mean, ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m okay. But Elena, your back ââ¬â ââ¬Å" For the first time, Damon was able to turn Elena and see the wounds on her back. ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠¦did that? Butâ⬠¦I thoughtâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ââ¬Å"Bloddeuwedd did that,â⬠Elena said sharply, looking upward for a circling shape in the deep red sky. ââ¬Å"She just barely touched me. She has talons like knives, like steel. We have to go, now!â⬠Damon put both hands on her shoulders. ââ¬Å"And come back when things have calmed down, you mean.â⬠ââ¬Å"And never come back! Oh, God, here she comes!â⬠Something out of the corner of her eye became baseball-sized in an instant, volleyball-sized in a second, human-sized in a moment. And then they were all scattering, leaping, rolling, trying to get away, except Damon, who seized Elena and shouted, ââ¬Å"This is my slave! If you have any argument with her, you first argue with me!â⬠ââ¬Å"And I am Bloddeuwedd, created by the gods, condemned to be a murderer every night. Iââ¬â¢ll kill you first, then eat her, the thief!â⬠Bloddeuwedd called back in her raucous new voice. ââ¬Å"Two bites is all it will take.â⬠Damon, I need to tell you something! ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ll fight you, but my slave is out of it!â⬠ââ¬Å"First bite; here I come!â⬠Damon, we have to go! A scream of primal pain and fury. Damon was standing slightly crouched with a huge piece of glass held in his hand like a sword and great black drops of blood were dripping from where he had ââ¬â oh, God! Elena thought ââ¬â heââ¬â¢d put out one of Bloddeuweddââ¬â¢s eyes! ââ¬Å"YOU WILL ALL DIE! ALL!â⬠Bloddeuwedd made a charge at a random vampire directly below her and Elena screamed as the vampire screamed. The black beak had caught him by one leg and was lifting him. But Damon was running forward, jumping, slashing. With a scream of fury, Bloddeuwedd took to the sky again. Now everyone understood the danger. Two other vampires rushed to take their comrade from Damon, and Elena was glad that her friends were not responsible for another life. She had too much on her hands already. Damon, Iââ¬â¢m leaving now. You can come with me or not. Iââ¬â¢ve got the key. Elena sent the words on the frequency that they were more or less alone on, and she sent it without dramatics. She had no room for drama left. Sheââ¬â¢d been stripped of everything except the need to get to Stefan. This time, she knew Damon heard her. At first, she thought Damon was dying. That Bloddeuwedd had somehow come back and pierced him through his entire body, as with a spear made of light. Then she realized that the feeling was rapture, and two tiny child hands reached out of the light and clung to hers, allowing her to pull a thin, ragged, but laughing child away free. No chains, she thought dizzily. Heââ¬â¢s not even wearing slave bracelets. ââ¬Å"My brother!â⬠he told her. ââ¬Å"My little brotherââ¬â¢s going to live!â⬠ââ¬Å"Well, thatââ¬â¢s a fine thing,â⬠Elena said shakily. ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s going to live!â⬠A tiny frown line appeared. ââ¬Å"If you hurry! And take good care of him! And ââ¬â ââ¬Å" Elena put two fingers over his lips, very gently. ââ¬Å"You donââ¬â¢t need to worry about anything like that. You just be happy.â⬠The little boy laughed. ââ¬Å"I will! I am!â⬠ââ¬Å"Elena!â⬠Elena came out of ââ¬â well, she supposed it was a daze, although it had been more real than many other things sheââ¬â¢d experienced recently. ââ¬Å"Elena!â⬠Damon was trying desperately to restrain himself. ââ¬Å"Show me the key!â⬠Slowly, majestically, Elena lifted her hand. Damonââ¬â¢s shoulders tensed, for ââ¬â something ââ¬â went down. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s a ring,â⬠he said dully. The slow and majestic bit hadnââ¬â¢t worked on him at all. ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s what I thought at first. Itââ¬â¢s a key. Iââ¬â¢m not asking you, or seeing if you agree with me; Iââ¬â¢m telling you. Itââ¬â¢s a key. The light from its eyes points to Stefan.â⬠ââ¬Å"What light?â⬠ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ll show you later. Bonnie! Meredith! Weââ¬â¢re leaving.â⬠ââ¬Å"YOUââ¬â¢RE NOT IF I SAY YOUââ¬â¢RE NOT!â⬠ââ¬Å"Watch out!â⬠screamed Bonnie. The owl was diving again. And again, at the last second, Damon gathered the three girls and leaped. The owlââ¬â¢s beak struck not grass nor shards of glass but the marble steps. They cracked. There was a scream of pain and another, as Damon, nimble as a dancer, slashed at the giant birdââ¬â¢s one good eye. He got in a cut right above it. Blood began to fill the eye. Elena couldnââ¬â¢t stand any more. Ever since starting out on this journey with Damon and Matt, she had been a vial filling with anger. Drop by drop, with each new outrage, that anger had filled and filled the vial. Now her rage was about to fill it to overflowing. But thenâ⬠¦what would happen? She didnââ¬â¢t want to know. She was afraid she wouldnââ¬â¢t survive it. What she did know was that she couldnââ¬â¢t watch any more pain and blood and anguish right now. Damon genuinely enjoyed fighting. Good. Let him. She was going to Stefan if she had to walk the whole way. Meredith and Bonnie were silent. They knew Elena in this mood. She wasnââ¬â¢t fooling around. And neither of them wanted to be left behind. It was exactly at that moment that the carriage came rumbling up to the base of the marble stairs. Sage, who obviously knew something about human nature, demonic nature, vampiric nature, and various kinds of bestial nature, jumped out of the carriage with two swords drawn. He also whistled. In a moment a shadow ââ¬â a small one ââ¬â came streaking to him out of the sky. Last, slowly, stretching each leg like a tiger, came Saber, who immediately pulled back his lips to show an amazing number of teeth. Elena leaped toward the carriage, her eyes meeting Sageââ¬â¢s. Help me, she thought desperately. And his eyes said just as plainly, Have no fear. Blindly, she reached behind her with both hands. One small, fine-boned, lightly trembling hand was thrust into hers. One slim, cool hand, hard as a boyââ¬â¢s but with long tapering fingers grabbed her other one. There was no one here to trust. No one to say good-bye to, or leave messages of good-bye with. Elena scrambled into the carriage. She got into the backseat, the farthest from the front, to accommodate incoming humans and animals. And in they did come, like an avalanche. She had dragged Bonnie with her, and Meredith had followed, so that when Saber leaped into his accustomed place he landed on three soft laps. Sage hadnââ¬â¢t wasted a moment. With Talon clamped on his left wrist, he left just enough room for Damonââ¬â¢s final spring ââ¬â and a spring it was. Cracked and broken, oozing black fluid, Bloddeuweddââ¬â¢s beak hit the end of the marble stairs where Damon had been standing. ââ¬Å"Directions!â⬠shouted Sage, but only after the horses were heading at a gallop ââ¬â somewhere, anywhere, away. ââ¬Å"Oh, please donââ¬â¢t let her hurt the horses,â⬠Bonnie gasped. ââ¬Å"Oh, please donââ¬â¢t let her split this roof like cardboard,â⬠said Meredith, somehow able to be wry even when her life was in danger. ââ¬Å"Directions, sââ¬â¢il vous plaà ®t!â⬠roared Sage. ââ¬Å"The prison, of course,â⬠panted Elena. She felt that it had been a long time since she had been able to get enough air. ââ¬Å"The prison?â⬠Damon seemed distracted. ââ¬Å"Yes! The prison!â⬠But then, he added, pulling up something like a pillowcase filled with billiard balls, ââ¬Å"Sage, what are these?â⬠ââ¬Å"Loot. Booty. Spoils! Plunder!â⬠As the horses swung in a new direction, Sageââ¬â¢s voice seemed to get more and more cheerful. ââ¬Å"And look around your feet!â⬠ââ¬Å"More pillowcasesâ⬠¦?â⬠ââ¬Å"I wasnââ¬â¢t prepared for a big haul tonight. But things worked out well anyway!â⬠By now, Elena was feeling one of the pillowcases for herself. The case was, indeed, full of clear, sparkling hoshi no tama. Star balls. Memories. Worthâ⬠¦ Worthless? ââ¬Å"Pricelessâ⬠¦although of course we donââ¬â¢t know whatââ¬â¢s on them.â⬠Sageââ¬â¢s voice changed subtly. Elena remembered the warning about ââ¬Å"forbidden spheres.â⬠What, in the name of the yellow sun, could they possibly forbid down here? Bonnie was the first to pick up a disk and put it to her temple. She did it so quickly, with such flashing, birdlike movements, that Elena couldnââ¬â¢t stop her. ââ¬Å"What is it?â⬠Elena gasped, trying to pull the star ball away. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦poetry. Poetry I canââ¬â¢t understand,â⬠said Bonnie crossly. Meredith had also picked up a sparkling orb. Elena reached for her but once again she was too late. Meredith sat as if in a trance for a moment, then grimaced and put the sphere down. ââ¬Å"What?â⬠demanded Elena. Meredith shook her head. She wore a delicate expression of distaste. ââ¬Å"What?â⬠Elena almost yelled. Then as Meredith put the star ball by her feet, Elena lunged at it. She clapped it to her own temple and immediately was dressed in black leather from head to toe. There were two broad, square men in front of her, without a lot of muscle tone. And she could see all of their musculature because they were stark naked except for rags such as beggars wore. But they werenââ¬â¢t beggars ââ¬â they looked well-fed and oily and it was clearly an act when one of them groveled, ââ¬Å"We have trespassed. We beg your forgiveness, O master!â⬠Elena was reaching to take the sphere off her temple (they stuck gently, if you put a little pressure there) and saying, ââ¬Å"Why donââ¬â¢t they use the space for something else?â⬠Something else was immediately all around her. A girl, in poor clothing, but not sacking. She looked terrified. Elena wondered if she were being controlled. And Elena was the girl. Pleasedonââ¬â¢tletitgetmepleasedonââ¬â¢tletitgetme ââ¬â Let what get you? Elena asked, but it was like watching a movie or book character while they were going into a lonely house in a howling storm and the music had turned eerie. The Elena who was walking in fear could not hear the Elena who was asking practical questions. I donââ¬â¢t think I want to see how this one comes out, she decided. She put the star ball back at Meredithââ¬â¢s feet. ââ¬Å"Do we have three sacks?â⬠ââ¬Å"Yes, maââ¬â¢am, yes, maââ¬â¢am; three sacks full.â⬠Oh. That didnââ¬â¢t work out very well. Elena was opening her mouth again, when Damon added quietly: ââ¬Å"And one sack empty.â⬠ââ¬Å"Really? We do? Then letââ¬â¢s all try to divide these. Anything ââ¬â forbidden ââ¬â goes in one sack. Weird stuff like Bonnieââ¬â¢s poetry reading goes into another. Any news of Stefan ââ¬â or of us ââ¬â goes in the third. And nice things, like summer days, go in the fourth,â⬠Elena said. ââ¬Å"I think you are being optimistic, me,â⬠Sage said. ââ¬Å"To expect to find an orb with Stefan on it so quickly ââ¬â ââ¬Å" ââ¬Å"Everybody, hush!â⬠Bonnie said frantically. ââ¬Å"This is Shinichi and Damon talking him into it.â⬠Sage stiffened, as if taking a lightning bolt from the stormy sky, then he smiled. ââ¬Å"Speak of the devil,â⬠he murmured. Elena smiled at him and squeezed his hand before taking another ball. ââ¬Å"This one seems to be some kind of legal stuff. I donââ¬â¢t understand it. A slave must be taking it because I can see all of them.â⬠Elena felt her facial muscles tighten with hatred at the sight ââ¬â even in a sort of dream ââ¬â of Shinichi, the kitsune who had done so much harm. His hair was black, except for an irregular fringe around the edges, which made it look as if it had been dipped in red-hot lava. And then, of course, Misao. Shinichiââ¬â¢s sister ââ¬â allegedly. This star ball must have been made by a slave, because she could see both of the twins and a lawyerly-looking man. Misao, Elena thought. Delicate, deferential, demureâ⬠¦demonic. Her hair was the same as Shinichiââ¬â¢s, but it was held up and back in a ponytail. You could see the demonic part if she raised her eyes. They were effervescent, golden, laughing eyes, just like her brotherââ¬â¢s; eyes that had never had a regret ââ¬â except perhaps for not exacting enough revenge. They took no responsibility. They found anguish funny. And then something odd happened. All three of the figures in the room suddenly turned around and looked straight at her. Straight at whoever had made the sphere, Elena corrected herself, but it still was disconcerting. It was even more disconcerting when they continued to advance. Who am I? Elena thought, feeling half-frantic with anxiety. Then she tried something she had never done before, or seen or heard of being done. She carefully extended her Power into the Self around the orb. She was Werty, a sort of lawyerââ¬â¢s secretary. She/he took notes when important deals were done. And Werty definitely didnââ¬â¢t like the way things were going right now. The two clients and his boss closing in on him like this, in a way they never had before. Elena pulled herself out of the clerk and put the ball down to one side. She shivered, feeling as if sheââ¬â¢d been plunged into ice-cold water. And then the roof crashed in. Bloddeuwedd. Even with her crippled beak, the huge owl tore off quite a bit of the roof of the carriage. Everyone was screaming and no one was giving much good advice. Saber and Damon had both damaged her: Saber by raising right off the three soft laps he was sitting on and lunging straight up for Bloddeuweddââ¬â¢s feet. He had torn and shaken one before letting go to fall back into the carriage, where he almost slid off the back. Elena, Bonnie, and Meredith grabbed at whatever portions of canine anatomy they could reach, and hauled the huge animal into the backseat again. ââ¬Å"Scoot over! Give him his own seat,â⬠wailed Bonnie, looking at the shreds of her pearl-colored dress where Saber had taken off and ripped right through the gauzy material. Heââ¬â¢d left red welts in his path. ââ¬Å"Well,â⬠Meredith said, ââ¬Å"next time weââ¬â¢ll request steel petticoats. But I really hope there isnââ¬â¢t going to be a next time, anyway!â⬠Elena prayed fervently that she was right. Bloddeuwedd was skimming in from a lower angle now, undoubtedly hoping to snap off a few heads. ââ¬Å"Everybody grab wood. And spheres! Throw the spheres at her as she comes close to us.â⬠Elena was hoping that the sight of star globes ââ¬â Bloddeuweddââ¬â¢s obsession ââ¬â might slow her down. At the same time Sage shouted, ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t waste the star balls! Throw anything else! Besides, weââ¬â¢re almost there. Hard left, then straightaway!â⬠The words gave Elena new hope. I have the key, she thought. The ring is the key. All I have to do now is get Stefan ââ¬â and get all of us to the door with the keyhole. All in one building. Iââ¬â¢m practically home. The next sweep came in even lower. Bloddeuwedd, blind in one eye, with blood filling the other one, and her olfactory senses blocked by her own dried blood, was trying to ram the carriage and knock it over. If she manages it, weââ¬â¢ll be dead, Elena thought. And any whoââ¬â¢re still writhing like worms on the ground, she can pick off. ââ¬Å"DUCK!â⬠She screamed the word both vocally and telepathically. And then something like an airplane flew so close to her that she felt tufts of hair being pulled out, caught in its claws. Elena heard a cry of pain from the front seat but didnââ¬â¢t raise her head to see what it was. And that was good, for while the carriage suddenly slammed to a halt, the next instant a whirling, screaming, bird of death came searing out on the same course. Now Elena needed all of her attention, all her faculties, to avoid this monster that was buzzing them even lower. ââ¬Å"The carriage, she is finished! Get out! Run!â⬠Sageââ¬â¢s voice came rumbling to her. ââ¬Å"The horses,â⬠screamed Elena. ââ¬Å"Finished! Get out, damn you!â⬠Elena had never heard Sage swear before. She dropped the subject. Elena never knew how she and Meredith did get out, tumbling over each other, trying to help and only getting in each otherââ¬â¢s way. Bonnie was already out, by virtue of the coach having hit a pole and sending her flying. Fortunately, it had sent her into a square of ugly but springy red clover, and she wasnââ¬â¢t seriously injured. ââ¬Å"Ahhh, my bracelet ââ¬â no, there it is,â⬠she cried, grabbing something glittering out of the clover. She cast a cautious look upward into the crimson night. ââ¬Å"Now what do we do?â⬠ââ¬Å"We run!â⬠came Damonââ¬â¢s voice. He came around the wreckage of the corner where they had fallen in a heap. There was blood on his mouth, on the previously immaculate white at his throat. It reminded Elena of those people who drank cowââ¬â¢s blood as well as milk for nutrition. But Damon only drank from humans. He would never stoop to equine bloodâ⬠¦ The horses will still be here and so will Bloddeuwedd, a harsh voice explained in her head. She would play with them; there would be pain. This way was quick. It wasâ⬠¦a whim. Elena reached for his hands, gasping. ââ¬Å"Damon! Iââ¬â¢m sorry!â⬠ââ¬Å"GET OUT OF HERE,â⬠Sage was roaring. ââ¬Å"We have to get to Stefan,â⬠Elena said, and grabbed Bonnie with her other hand. ââ¬Å"Help guide me, please. I canââ¬â¢t see the ring very well.â⬠Meredith, she trusted, would get to the Shi no Shi building on her own resources. And then there was a nightmare of running and flinching and false alarms by a shaken Bonnie. Twice the horror from above came skimming straight toward them only to crash just in front of them, or a little to the side, breaking wood and tile road alike, throwing up clouds of dust. Elena didnââ¬â¢t know about all owls, but Bloddeuwedd swooped down at an angle on her prey, then opened her wings and dropped at the last moment. Part of the worst thing about the giant owl was her silence. There was no rustling to warn them of where she might be. Something in her own feathers muffled the sound, so that they never knew when she was going to drop next. In the end they had to crawl through all sorts of rubbish, going as fast as they could, holding wood, glass, anything sharp over their heads, as Bloddeuwedd made another pass. And all the time Elena was trying to use her Power. It was not a Power she had used before, but she could feel its name shaping her lips. What she could not feel, could not force, was a connection between the words and the Power. Iââ¬â¢m useless as a heroine, she thought. Iââ¬â¢m pathetic. They should have given these Powers to someone who already knew how to control such things. Or, no, they should have given them to someone and then given the someone a course on how to use them. Or ââ¬â no ââ¬â ââ¬Å"Elena!â⬠Rubbish was flying in front of her, but then she was cutting left and somehow getting around it. And then she was on the ground and looking up at Damon, who had protected her with his body. ââ¬Å"Thank you,â⬠she whispered. ââ¬Å"Come on!â⬠ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m sorry,â⬠she whispered and held out her right hand, with the ring on it, for him to take. And then she doubled up, heaving with sobs. She could hear the flapping of Bloddeuwedd right above her. How to cite The Return: Shadow Souls Chapter 39, Essay examples

Inference Essay free essay sample
We do not have much information about this tribe as the anthropologists had just found out their existence. We only have limited information we received from the anthropologists. The information are based on the environment and climate they live in, the food they eat, their family and children, books and arts and their social aspect and attitudes toward war that the Eneon tribe are live in. According to the report provided by the anthropologists about Eneon, there are three words for ââ¬Å"terrainâ⬠designating ââ¬Å"absolutely flat,â⬠â⬠rolling,â⬠and ââ¬Å"slightly hillyâ⬠. Therefore they all live in a place that is surrounded by hills. As hills surround them they do not know the existence of the ocean, perhaps they do not explore the land, that why they do not have a word for ocean, but they do have streams as they have several words for precipitation, and most are translated as ââ¬Å"rainâ⬠. With this it is possible they are able to grow grains. We will write a custom essay sample on Inference Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The Eneon do not have word such as pork, beef, mutton, leather and other meat products, however they do have words for cow, pig and other animals, with this we can assume, there are grasses for those animals to eat. Therefore, there is a possibility that there really is water to grow other agriculture products. They do have dozens of words for grains and including eight words for wheat; from this we can tell that they are eating many types of grains. In other word from this information we assumed that they are either a vegetarian or vegan. From other information we have gathered again Eneon is that, they have some words that are referring to children, there are some especially referring them as ââ¬Å"wise, small oneâ⬠ââ¬Å"innocent leaderâ⬠and ââ¬Å"little stargazerâ⬠; with these we can assume that Eneon have high expectation for the next generations. They also translated ââ¬Å"sexâ⬠as ââ¬Å"to plant a wise oneâ⬠which is saying that they want to give birth to a wise children. As they also refer that there are several words for leader and all are in plural, perhaps it is connected to what they called the children the ââ¬Å"innocent leaderâ⬠it seems that they see the children as the future leader and we can further assume that they expect them to support the next generations as they also refer the children as ââ¬Å"little stargazerâ⬠. Furthermore, as the Enoen have seven terms to describe the stages of life up to puberty and only one word from puberty to death, with this we can tell that they have many stages once the child is born till the day he or she is eighteen, and maybe only have 1 word for puberty to death, because at this point Eneon do not have anything else to explain; therefore the word woman are synonymous with ââ¬Å"wife and motherâ⬠and man for ââ¬Å"husband and fatherâ⬠with this information we can assume the adults will be taking care of all the children, and as they pass the puberty they are unable to gain new knowledge. It also appears that they have twenty words for books, so perhaps they are twenty stages of books they have to use through out their birth to death; therefore they are a very educated tribe. We can assume that Eneon people have very high pride in art. We can infer this because they have nine words for artist. They also seem to have many interests toward theater as well, as they have four words that mean theater. They have a word praise that is translated as ââ¬Å"peacemakerâ⬠and ââ¬Å"conciliatorâ⬠; we assume that they have a person in the tribe that is making sure that there are no fights between each person. Since everyone in the tribe have gone through a high education system, which makes each one of them have their own thoughts and idea that may cause some conflict, therefore the peacemaker will then come in and prevent from such thing to happen. We can then further assume that is the reason why they do not have word for violence and war, as the peacemaker is taking care of such situation to prevent bad situations to happen. With all this information, there is a possibility that, they have experienced a war in the past and that there are many children that are left behind and only very few adults have survived. Therefore, the adults want to protect these children from this violence and war, so they have moved them to area where they will not meet the outside world. That may be the cause of them not having the word ocean. Adults could be calling the children the ââ¬Å"wise, small oneâ⬠ââ¬Å"innocent leaderâ⬠and ââ¬Å"little stargazerâ⬠, for the meaning of them to be able to create a tribe that does not have any violent conflict and war. Also, as it has been mentioned above they may have a peacemaker to prevent bad situations from happening. There are still many aspects, whichà we are unable to discover, but this could be one of the examples as to why they are living their life in this kind of environment. By using the information we have gathered about Eneon, we have predict the area that they are living in, their daily meals, family and children, books and arts and how their social system works and their thoughts about war. With all these information it feels that they are enjoying their life, it may be interesting to live with them for a short time, maybe instead of living for a short time might end up living there permanently.
